Some golf club general managers have marketing backgrounds. Some have degrees in golf management. Jon Christenson, the general manager at Whispering Creek Golf Club, is a fully-qualified golf course superintendent who moved to the “front office” five years ago.

Today, during his frequent golf course inspections, it's a point of personal pride for Christenson and everyone at Whispering Creek that members and visitors enjoy the golf course and find that it's in top condition, tee to green. Golfers who play at Whispering Creek include daily-fee golfers, members, guests, juniors, couples, corporate groups…everyone in western Iowa who enjoys golf.

The routinely excellent condition of the golf course was just one reason the Iowa Golf Association named Whispering Creek its 2007 Golf Course of the Year, a big honor for a young club that only opened in 2001.
